It's a start

"...the serenity to accept things that I cannot change,
the courage to change things I can and
the wisdom to know the difference"
- Swami Dayananda Saraswati
Serenity, Courage and Wisdom (just as prescribed above) are
what everyone needs in this modern world.
And that includes politicians as well.

Am I one - No!
Will I be one? Yes!
Will I be a good one? You be the judge..

As a kid I did things that every normal kid did. I played with friends, I went to school, I did homework, etc. But I was a shy kid with truck loads of fear. From crackers to crowded places, from Gods to demons, from thunder to drum sounds, I was afraid of a lot of things. But my dad was there to protect me from all my fears. I was a kid who knew no pain.

But things changed suddenly when I was in the sixth grade. My father left this world, leaving me the responsibility of taking care of my family (not literally.... but you know). I decided to open-up, I decided to purge my fears and here I am, all of twenty three years and being referred to as a non-stop-speaker. (the last part of the hyphenated word would be replaced by some other adjectives by my friends)
Up until my tenth grade, I never had a an ambition in life or a goal or even a plan. My Polytechnic studies gave me everything, the confidence to do whatever I want to do. Thats where I realised my interest in politics. I joined the A.I.A.D.M.K. party at the age of 18 despite a very strong opposition from my mother. My BE studies in PSG Tech gave an idea to approach things in a multidimensional way. I got a lot of exposure, networking, ideas, .... A LOAAAAAAAAAT. I started becoming an active volunteer in the party by attending almost all the functions in town. Not only attending the functions, but also doing ground work for these functions such as tying party flags, drawing party symbols on the road, arranging chairs, putting up posters, serving food, a minidoor driver... etc.
I loved doing it because it gave me an experience which I never experienced in my college. I love to be multi-cultural, multi-lingual and to do a bit of multi-tasking whereever possible. But unfortunately, as my mother doesn't like my interest in politics, there used to a big fight at home whenever I returned late from party meetings. I used to try to convince her properly, but it continued long after into the next function and the next. One fine day I had a very big conversation with my mom, I convinced her and I made her see what I saw. Thats where she realised my real thirst of entering politics and now I have a very good moral support from my mom which gives me a hell of a lot of confidence towards my activities at the AIADMK.
During the last parliamentary election I was helping out all the senior members in the party in whatever they did. I distributed the voter slips to more than 1500 people where I got an opportunity to show my face to a lot of people in my area, because at the end of the day you need publicity in politics right..:). I was appointed as the booth agent for a particular polling booth where I learnt the entire process inside a polling booth.
One fine day I was travelling in the campaigning vehicle and I just tried speaking (as a filler) when the vehicle was moving from one gathering spot to another. Some senior person in the party heard me speak and gave me a seperate campaigning vehicle to campaign in ward no. 10,11,15,08. This was one of the happiest moments in my life. This is like getting a big fat promotion at an appraisal in your company.
Fortunately that was the last day of campaigning and because of my interest in campaigning I used this opportunity to the maximum and got a lot of appreciation and above all, a good recognition in the party. I was nominated as the youth wing secretary of 11th ward, which was my first posting in politics. A proud moment.
Up until now I am working as the youth wiing secretary of the same ward. I have briefed 5 years of my political career above. From now, I am planning to keep you updated about the happenings in my career as a politician. Because this is going to be an important phase in my political career and I require all the support that I can get.

I am starting today (24 February), by organizing a party event.
What, why and where.. keep watching this space.

The next time, it'd be an invite!

Wish me luck.. VANAKKAM MAKKALE!!!
